THE KOOPLES

Amelia Bag

Softwares: Blender, Premier Pro

Techniques: Modeling, texturing, Sculpting, Animation, Lighting.

This project primarily focused on exploring 3D modeling and texturing techniques through the creation of a product visualization advertisement, with additional use of lighting and animation to strengthen the final result.

To challenge myself, I chose to work with a more organic model that involved combining modeling, texturing, and sculpting. I ended up choosing a handbag from THE KOOPLES with an interesting and distinct leather texture.

MODELING

I used a workflow of modeling with subdivision on and to start with basic shapes. With this method I could preserve and get used to the handbag's rounded shapes, with the exception of the metal parts.

SCULPTING

Sculpting was used to create fabric wrinkles and asymetry in the shape. I got the chance to try Blenders cloth brushes, which proved to be an effective method.

TEXTURING

For the leather material, I started with a texture from AmbientCG and refined it in Photoshop to better match the desired result. In Blender, I increased the bump map intensity within the shader settings to create a more pronounced and rough leather surface, enhancing the material’s accuracy.

To maintain a clean and believable result, the UV seams were placed along the natural seams of the bag itself. This helped preserve the sewn construction aesthetic while also optimizing the UV mapping process.

AFTERTHOUGHTS

I really enjoyed working on this project, as it gave me the opportunity to combine sculpting, modeling, and texturing into a more complete and cohesive workflow. It was a valuable experience to explore how these different disciplines interact throughout the creation process and how each stage contributes to the final result.

Achieving a believable fabric appearance and natural-looking wrinkles was one of the main challenges of the project. However, it gave me the opportunity to experimen with Blender’s cloth sculpting brushes, allowing me to explore new techniques for creating more realistic fabric details.
